Getting here

Only 40 miles away from London the River Medway is easy to get to.

It flows through some of England's most peaceful and rural water environments and is accessible by car, bus and train.

The best destination for accessing the river is Allington which has a large slipway and parking facilities.

By road

From M20 Coast bound - Exit motorway at Junction 5, take 3rd exit towards Maidstone, take 1st exit at roundabout, straight over next roundabout and under Railway Bridge, after 500 metres turn left down Castle Road. Drive 0.5 mile and take left fork to Allington Lock.

From M20 London bound - Exit motorway at Junction 5, take first exit towards Maidstone and follow the instructions above.

By Rail

Maidstone East Train Station (off Week Street) - About a 30/40 minute walk or 3 mile drive.

By Foot or Bike

From Maidstone East Train Station -Follow towpath for 1.5 miles towards Aylesford. Cyclists please be aware that this is not a cycle path and you maybe required to dismount. At the Malta Inn public house, cross the river via the sluice structure and lock gates - The Lock House will be directly in front of you.

From Aylesford - Follow Forstal Road for 1 mile, take the slip road on the right for the Malta Inn public house and follow instructions above.

From Maidstone Chequers Centre - Arriva bus service

No. 18 from stand H2 - 10 minute Bus ride, 20 minute
