Walking

The towpath runs alongside most of the length of the River Medway, making it a great river for walking. There are also other walks that you can enjoy across the Medway Valley.
Medway Valley walk
Joins the riverbank at Aylesford near the old medieval bridge. It continues upstream to Allington and eventually onto Tonbridge.
Walks crossing the Medway
There are many walks that cross the Medway. They include:
- Greensand Way at Yalding
- Wealdway at Ford Green Bridge.
The Wealdway merges with the Medway Valley walk through Tonbridge and onto Haysden Country Park.
Recommended maps
The Ordnance Survey Explorer Map 136 High Weald is an excellent companion for walkers.
The map details footpaths and bridleways, especially in wetlands area between East Peckham and Tonbridge. Here the intersecting rights of way form circular walks, taking in the villages of Golden Green, Barnes Street, Little Mill, Snoll Hatch, East Peckham and Hale Street.
