Shopping spree in Maidstone

Shops from the river in Maidstone

Katie tells us about her day out shopping in Maidstone.

What did you do on your trip to the Maidstone?

I started the Trip by going down to Sandling and catching the Kentish Lady river bus into Maidstone. It took about half an hour and was a very relaxing pleasant way to get into Maidstone. The boat dropped us off near the Archbishops palace gardens and I decided to have a wander around the area while I was free of shopping bags. It was a nice sunny day and I sat on one of the benches watching the boats go by. I decided to stroll into the town centre and went up the high street and found a nice café to have an iced coffee and cake in whilst I read my magazine.

I then went to Fremlin Walk, the new pedestranised shopping area and had a great time looking in all the shops and getting some bargains. It had a nice buzz about the place and as it was a week day it didn't seem too busy. I decide to go and have some lunch and found a cafe further into Maidstone.

In the afternoon I discovered that there was a museum in Maidstone and thought I would have a look around. It was very interesting and full of fascinating articles and I especially like the Egyptian section.

I took the Kentish Lady back to Sandling and met some friends at the Malta Inn down by the river where we sat out and had drinks and then had a meal together.

What time of year did you go?

Late Spring Time.

What did you like best about it, did everything go to plan? Especially include anything that was really memorable or quirky.

I enjoyed the river trip to and from Maidstone in was a nice change not to have to battle into the town centre and then find a parking space.
