Canoe experience on the Medway

Peter and his two sons try out canoeing on the Medway.
What did you do on your trip to the river?
Me and my two teenage sons decided to take a paddle on the Medway we had read about the new facilities and being keen canoeists we thought we would give it a go. We drove down to the lock at Allington where we could park, being BCU members we didn't have to buy a licence, so we unloaded our canoes and launched from the slipway, we only had an afternoon so we took a gentle paddle up to Maidstone and back. The sun was out and it was great to share the river with all the ducks and swans. We headed back loaded up our canoes and headed off home.
What time of year did you go?
Summertime.
What did you like best about it, did everything go to plan? Especially, include anything that was really memorable or quirky?
The facilities were great, easy parking, a large slipway, showers and a really helpful lock-keeper.
What could have been improved or done differently? Did anything go wrong, or was not as expected?
Everything was great and we've now heard that the Medway Canoe Trail has been completed so we're planning to come back soon and make a weekend of it.
