Registering your boat

You must register your powered boat, canoe, kayak, rowing boat or dinghy to use it on the River Medway.

Allington Lock to Town Lock, Tonbridge

You must register your boat with the Environment Agency if you are boating on the 31km of the non-tidal Medway between Allington and Tonbridge, near Maidstone.

This also applies if you are keeping your boat in a marina along the river.

For information on prices and how to register your boat visit the Environment Agency website or contact the licensing officer on 0118 9535650.

You must display your registration certificate clearly on your boat, preferably on a forward facing window. If you have a manually propelled vessel please ensure to keep the licence on you at all times.
